According to an article in the Jakarta Post, “a survey was conducted last month by the Center for Islamic and Society Studies” a University in Jakarta, Indonesia “involving some 500 Islamic studies teachers.” The results were enlightening.
21% want the death penalty for converting away from Islam
58.9% support stoning for various crimes
68.6% opposed having a non-Muslim principal
85.6% prohibit their students from celebrating western holidays
87% oppose having their students learn about other religions
97% do not think they are responsible to teach tolerance to their students
Indonesia is considered by many to be one of the most moderate Muslim countries on earth. The true face of moderate Islam! Note that these are not just the views of random people on the street. The respondents were all school teachers who will affect the next generation!
