Children and the sin nature

I just came across a quote that does a great job describing the sin nature and how we are born sinners:
Every baby starts life as a little savage He is completely selfish and self-centered. He wants what he wants when he wants it--his bottle, his mother's attention, his playmate's toy, his uncle's watch. Deny him these wants, and he seethes with rage and aggressiveness, which would be murderous, were he not so helpless. he is dirty. He has no morals, no knowledge, no skills. this means that all children, no just certain children, are born delinquent. If permitted to continue in the self-centered world of his infancy, given free reign to his impulsive actions to satisfy his wants, every child would grow up a criminal, the their, a killer, a rapist (attributed to The Minnesota Crime Commission by Haddon Robinson in Biblical Preaching. Grand Rapids : Baker, 1980, 145).

Are we basically good?

Dennis Prager has produced an excellent video entitled, "Human Nature; are we basically good?"

I submitted the following response on the Prager University website: Dennis, excellent video! I agree with you that we are not basically good. I also thought your observation about how babies are "pure narcissists" was right on the money. On the other hand, while being "pure narcissists" does not make babies morally evil, it is this pure narcissism which, when left unchecked, is at the root of all evil. When some of us say that people are born "basically bad" that is what we mean. I would even call it the "sin nature."
